Naming Application

In March 2024, we submitted our first application to sponsor a family currently living in hiding in Eurasia. Due to their conversion to Christianity many years ago, the family has been hiding from extremist family members for the past 15 years and there is currently and edict out for their execution if they are found. Our application is currently under review. This type of application to sponsor a specific family is called a “naming” application, and it will take longer for the family to arrive due to the processes involved in approval by the USRAP.

Update February 2025: This family had their RSC and USRAP interviews in December 2024 and expected to receive final approval and travel plans any day in January. However, all refugee resettlement has been paused by executive order for the time being so their application is on hold.

Matching Application

In spring 2024, we also submitted a matching application, requesting to sponsor a family with four kids. In August 2024, we "matched" with a refugee family from South America that already has USRAP approval for resettlement to the United States. The A-C family arrived in Indianapolis in late September 2024. Since then, they have found an apartment and both parents have found employment, working alternating shifts to make sure one of them is home with the children. The three oldest kids are enrolled in local schools and learning English rapidly and making friends, even getting involved in extra curricular sports. Their youngest son attends a local preschool three mornings each week. Most impressively, both father and mother have learned to drive for the first time, working hard to obtain driver's licenses. Both parents are also studying English. We have enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays together with their family. The A-C family has a very bright future in the U.S. Thank you to the generous donors who have helped to support them as they make this courageous transition to life in a new country.

How you can help.

We estimate it costs at least $12,500 to get a refugee family started in Indiana. If you’d like to donate to help us with our first two families, please donate here. Since we are an all volunteer organization with no overhead, all donated funds will go directly to help with newcomers’ expenses such as rent, groceries, transportation, and clothing.
